Strategy shows you the pathway from here and now to reaching new things tomorrow. A key figure isn’t a strategy; it’s only a measurable objective. Managers should communicate, launch and accompany this path. First, however, the strategy needs to be thought over, visualized and implemented.
The additional challenge, however, is to build up the skills of the team members to be able to deal appropriately with unforeseen events and to make correct decisions based on the correct strategy. Nobody has a master plan and nobody really knows what will happen tomorrow. Understanding systems and being able to react has to be practised; simply reading about it won’t suffice.
